I have been unable to find your games at software stores?
Sometimes our games are sold out in stores.  You can order online from our store page.

Are there any cheat codes for your games?
Yes.  You can find cheat codes for our Rodeo game here.  None of our other games have cheat codes.

Where is the millionaires club for the Horseracing Game?
Right here.

When I play the Horseracing Game I sometimes see black squares around the horses?
This is a problem if you are running newer versions of DirectX.  There is a patch available that should fix this problem, it can be downloaded here: HorseRacePatch.zip.  Simply unzip the two replacement files and overwrite the older versions in the \Program Files\HeadGames\Horseracing directory.

I don't want to buy anything on-line, how can I find a store near me with the games?
Radish Works doesn't sell our games directly to specific stores, so you'll need to check with one of our distributors.   If you don't want to order on-line, you can try calling Farnam @ 1-800-234-2269 and they should be able to tell you of a store in your area.

When playing a game it locks up or crashes to the desktop?
Problems like this are almost always issues with DirectX video or sound drivers. Try upgrading your drivers to match whatever version of DirectX is currently on your machine. You can also try e-mailing support @ support@activisionvalue.com .   Sometimes the latest drivers for your machine are hard to find, so make sure you check with your computer manufacturer AS WELL as the manufacturer of the actual video or sound card installed in your computer.  Make SURE the drivers are compatible with the installed version of DirectX and the version of Windows you have on your machine.

When I try to run a game I get the following error message: Error Starting Program The JUMPER.EXE file is linked to missing export DDRAW.DLL:DirectDrawCreateEx.  What's wrong?
For some reason DirectX didn't get properly installed.  Make sure the game CD is in your CDROM drive. Double click on 'My Computer' you will see an icon for your CD-ROM drive.  Right click on that icon and choose the option to re-install direct X.  This will bring you through the installation of Direct X.  Follow the prompts and restart the computer.  Once this is done, the game should work just fine.  If you still have issues running the game, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your computer (or video card) and get updated drivers for your video card.  Drivers become outdated every 6-9 months as new technology hits the market.

When I try to run a game I get the following error message: <game> causes a GPF in GDI.exe.  Why?
GDI.exe is part of Windows, its part of the program that display's graphics on the screen.  This error occurs because of a bug in your video driver that is talking to GDI.exe.  This problem is almost always fixed when you update your video driver from your video manufacturer.   Check your computer manufacturer web site for the latest drivers.  Sometimes you may have to go to the actual video board manufacturer's site because the computers makers site is not always up-to-date.  Unfortunately drivers become outdated every 6-9 months as new technology hits the market.

Do Radish Works Games run on Windows ME?
Yes.  All of the Radish Works titles have been tested on Windows ME.  You will need to make sure you have the correct DirectX video and sound drivers that are compatible with Windows ME.

Can I do anything with the goat in the 3-Day Eventing Game?
No.  The goat is just there for fun, and you can't remove him from the stall.

Why does Championship Season and 3-Day Eventing use so much hard drive space (602 MB)?
This is an oversight in the Activision Installer, the minimum install was accidentally omitted from the final CD installer.  The minimum install only uses about 300 MB.  Once installed you can safely delete all of the *.vid files on your hard drive, and the game will automatically check for them on CD while playing.  If you really want less installed space (about 150 MB) you can also remove the Jumper.mnu, Jumper.msc, and/or Jumper.snd files, although the game will run very slowly

I have trouble feeding Taffy or Blaze?
Yep, you found a little bug. The good news is we found an easy fix. For Taffy, if you fill the bucket in order, Sweet Feed (Sweet Feed is another name for Alpha-Mo), Barley, then Pellets (from left to right), it works OK. And for Blaze, Oats, Oats, Sweet Feed (right to left), it works OK too.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

Are there any secrets to training horses in the Horseracing Game?
Your BEST BET for improving your horse's performance in future races is to run a good race. Be smart, and don't waste all your stamina in the turns. Running a good race does more for your horse's future performance than good training.  Once you practice for a while, you'll wonder why you ever spent all that money to hire a mediocre computer jockey!

I have downloaded the Horses, how do I buy them?
Check to make sure the files you downloaded are in the "Horses" directory (most likely \Program Files\HeadGames\Horseracing\Horses").

Also, some Internet browsers name these files incorrectly. Confirm the files are names <horsename>.hsr, with no extra dots or spaces.

Once you have these horses in the correct place on your Hard Drive, you can then Buy them from the "Buy" option in the game.

I have trouble downloading the Bonus Horses?
If you are having trouble downloading the horses, try Right-Clicking on the horse file and using the "Save Target As..." option.

When online racing, sometimes I see the race finish in one order but when I get to the final results screen the results show a different order?
Seeing a race order change is caused by Internet Latency (slow messages). The server thinks you are in one place and your machine is a bit behind. You don't notice these problems too much when just browsing the Web, pages just load a bit slower. Latency can be a real problem with a real time game, when you are counting on millisecond responses.  If you can, try a different Internet connection or a higher speed connection.

Does the ISP (Internet Service Provider) make a difference when racing online?
The ISP makes a HUGE difference!! You would be amazed at how unreliable some ISP's really are, dropped message packets, lots of latency (slow messages). You don't notice these problems too much when browsing the Web. When a message gets lost, it gets sent again, and when there's a lot of latency pages just load a little slower. These things are real problems with a real time game, when you are counting on millisecond responses.  If you can, try a different Internet connection or a higher speed connection.

I have a small home network, when I try and race horses online I keep getting kicked off?
Your problem is most likely your home network.  Most of the home networks do some tricks that “fool” the Internet connection to think its talking to just one computer.  The problems occur because when playing online there are lots of messages that go directly between the racing computers, and since the connection is “really” connected to more than one computer the messages don't know where to go.  One solution might be to disable your internal network and connect just one computer to the Internet connection.

Are there any secrets to racing in the Horseracing Game?

Picking a Race:
Do NOT pick a race that is too easy or too difficult for your horse. If you go into a race an overwhelming favorite and something goes awry, your horse will suffer serious performance consequences in the future. If you're an extreme long shot, your horse may lose its competitive edge and it won't do you any good.

Running a Race:
With practice, you should be able to outperform a computer jockey about 75% of the time. Here are some good winning strategy points:

  • When the gate opens, run straight ahead and avoid ANY bumping. The field is crowded, and you don't want any bumping to slow you down. Just before the first turn, get up against the left rail. Wait as long as possible before doing this. If another horse blocks your path to the rail, keep the left arrow down and eventually things will clear out and you'll get there.

  • When the gate opens, run full tilt. You want to get ahead as far as possible before heading into the turn. Once in the turn, it's MUCH more difficult to pass or be passed, since the horse on the outside has to run a longer path. I'll usually run my stamina bar into the low yellow zone. Avoid going into the red!

  • Once in the first turn, back off the speed. If someone wants to go around you, make them pass on the outside. Try to build your stamina back up into the middle of the green zone so you have plenty of stamina for the back stretch.

  • If you're going to make a move and pass, try the back stretch. Speed up and run your stamina back down into the lower end of the yellow. Stay out of the red zone! You can also move left/right to keep others from passing you. Block them out. As the 2nd turn approaches, get up against the rail again. Once in the second turn, do the same as in the first. Build your stamina up by forcing others to pass you on the outside.

  • When you're coming into the home stretch, put the pedal to the metal.

Ideally, you want to run out of stamina (run into the red) just before you cross the finish line. If you have a bunch of stamina as you exit the last turn, you might even want to start passing as you come out of the turn. If you're out of stamina before you get to the finish line, try to block anyone coming up behind you by getting in their way. They can go around you on this last straight section, but try to make it more difficult.

Are there any demos of any Radish Works games?
Sorry, but currently there are no game demos.

Why do my cash codes only work sometimes when I re-use them?
Cash codes can only be used once per farm. In other words, once you start over with a new farm you can use the cash codes again.  If you could use the cash codes over and over, there would be no point in playing the game!  Here's a couple bonus codes for reading the FAQ, "FMIKKQT0GD32ALDB" and "CMIJOQZ0GD24ANFB".
